Platts was established in 1967 and back then we provided traditional spray paint services to agricultural and commercial vehicle customers.
We like to think the growth in the years that followed came for two reasons. One, from our ability to handle plant, vehicles and components that were too large for regular paint-shops, and two, from our willingness to innovate, expand our knowledge and develop our skills.
Now in our 50th year, Platts remains a privately owned family business. We have grown organically and sustainably to a turnover exceeding half a million pounds.
Our offering and the areas in which we operate has grown too, with clients from the highly specified defence, utility, offshore and rail sectors now accounting for over 80% of our sales each year.
1.2 Hectare Site
The 1.2 hectare site we operate from is host to a 60ft shot blasting facility, two purpose built spray booths/paint ovens and a secure 300 square metre hard standing for the safe storage and processing of our clients assets. But we also understand that it’s not always practical or possible for our clients to bring their assets and components to us. That’s why in 2012 we started to offer on-site specialist spray and coating contractor services to customers across the UK.
